Early Pregnancy Signs

When it comes to early pregnancy signs, they can be different for every woman. Some women know almost instantly that they are pregnant, while some learn that they are pregnant while in labor. These cases, however are a bit extreme and pretty rare. Many women have a hunch after a round of morning sickness or a missed period.

There are general early pregnancy signs that are present in almost every woman that doctors use as a guideline to determine if they may be pregnant. If you are not expecting to be pregnant you may pass them off as if you were getting a cold or coming down with something. But it won’t be long until you realize what is really causing the symptoms and your life will change in an instant.

If you think you might be pregnant, you can purchase a home pregnancy test. These tests can be taken in the privacy of your home and you will know in minutes if you are pregnant or not. If you are pregnant the hormone HCG (Human chorionic gonadotropin) will be present in your urine.

When you take your pregnancy test and these hormones are present, you will get a positive result. Some people doubt the accuracy of home pregnancy tests, but if you use it correctly the chances are high that you'll receive a correct reading. Home pregnancy tests are becoming more accurate and now it’s easy to tell if you may be pregnant in just a few days after missing your period.

Some women you may feel a few pregnancy signs and instantly think that they are pregnant but after taking a home pregnancy test or checking with your doctor you find out that you were mistaken. You wonder how you could be wrong because you felt the early signs of pregnancy. This happens quite often actually.

Sometimes after learning that you are not pregnant you may feel empty, almost like you have lost your baby. This is normal too. Your mind usually has a positive reaction to pregnancy. Once you think that you are pregnant, you immediately start to wonder and think about the new baby, how your life is going to change, who you are going to share the news with and so on. It doesn’t take long to prepare your mind which in turn tricks your body into feeling symptoms that are not really there.

Early Pregnancy Signs

Absence of period is the first sign that you may be pregnant. Although this sign alone is not very accurate, especially if you have irregular periods, it is still one of the clues that may set you off.

You may experience bloating and mild cramping like you would when you are getting ready to start your period.

You may feel unusually tired, drowsy or exhausted. Your body really needs to rest now so that your baby can have a great start and your body can adjust.

Breasts may feel very tender or they may feel full.

The area around the nipple, called the areola, may darken in color

You may find that you are making several trips to the bathroom due to frequent urination. This is because the uterus is enlarging and putting pressure on the bladder.

You may have nausea or you may even vomit after getting up in the mornings.

You may feel dizzy or lightheaded frequently.

These early pregnancy signs usually get better as the pregnancy progresses, but there are some women who continue to be sick during the entire pregnancy. These signs are good in a way, since they're letting you know that you're sharing your body with a precious new baby.
